DT structures

Kestrel Class are busy building structures.

Today Kestrel class started to build different types of structures. Using a variety of materials, we experimented with various ways of joining and bracing simple shapes. We discovered that accurate measuring and marking out were crucial to the joining of our structures. We also found out that to make our structures stable we needed to strengthen them with triangulation and horizontal bracing; this strengthening process reinforced our structures to make them much more rigid.

We have already researched many famous structures such as The Eiffel Tower and The Iron Bridge near Telford - we will use this research to design and create our own prototype structures in the following few weeks.
